Planning
We are particularly experienced in planning for sport, both in terms of strategic planning and land-use planning. Our experience in strategic planning encompasses the following:
- Local sport, recreation, green space and play strategies
- Regional strategies for sport
- Playing pitch assessments
- Facilities planning work (we are particularly conversant with the workings of Sport England's Facilities Planning Model (FPM), and have produced regional, county and local assessments for a wide range of facility types)
- Governing body facility and development plans
Our experience in land use planning includes the following:
- Ensuring local and structure plans consider fully the needs of sport and active recreation, by representations to local authorities, attendance at public enquiries
- Protection of sports pitches, in conjunction with playing pitch assessments
- Assessing the planning implications of new sports facilities, securing planning permission
- Advising on design and layout of new sports facilities
The land-use planning process is central to planning for sport and recreation, and clients have the confidence in the knowledge that members of our team are both experienced ‘leisure planners’, and chartered town planners.
