Recreation
We are focussing our work increasingly on helping to plan and provide for better informal recreation activities.
Far more people take part in things like walking, cycling and play than in organised sport and most are lifelong pursuits. They are a superb medium for promoting healthy communities and lifestyles, and more cost effective than other types of capital intensive leisure provision, in promoting these aims.
Recent projects in which we have been involved include a major access and rights of way study for Durham County Council, which has been acclaimed as an exemplar.
We have also been involved in many 'Open Space, Sport and Recreation' studies for local authorities. These studies are required by government, and assessing informal recreation opportunities has been a major component of all of them.
